Dr. W. Edward Culbertson has been practicing optometry for more than 42 years. His interests include general family optometry, especially contact lenses, anterior segment eye disease and glaucoma.

He grew up in Bucyrus, Ohio where he attended Colonel Crawford High School. He played football, track and baseball. He graduated third in his class and was a Member of the National Honor Society.

He attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio where he majored in zoology. In 1976, he graduated from The Ohio State University College of Optometry with a B.S. degree in Physiological Optics and an O.D. degree or Doctor of Optometry. He is a member of Beta Sigma Kappa, the national honorary fraternity in optometry.

He owned a practice with three locations in North Carolina for 25 years before moving to Texas in 2001. He owned a practice here in Dallas until he left solo private practice to join Kirby Eye Center as an associate.

He is a 40-year member of the American Optometric Association and a member of the Texas Optometric Association. He has a wife, Carmen, who manages the Kirby Optical Center, four sons and seven grandchildren. He is a faithful member of the Sanctuary of Praise, Church of God in Christ in Allen, TX.
